Approved answers to the questions we are asked most about choosing, using and buying vacuum-pressing equipment. Can't find yours? Ask us.
Equipment
Electric presses have their own vane pump. Venturi presses run on compressed air and need a compressor rated at least 10 cfm FAD (BPPN21).
Choose a bag a little larger than your biggest workpiece and former. Standard bags are 1300 × 2500mm on most presses.
It depends on the press. The Pro8 runs up to two, the Pro16 up to four and the Pro40 has eight ports.
Materials
D3 PVA suits most veneering. Epoxy and resorcinol suit structural or water-resistant work.
Use thin birch or flexible plywood for curves. Cross-grain and long-grain sheets bend in different directions.
Moulds
No. With a vacuum press a one-piece former is enough.
Yes. We CNC hot-wire cut polystyrene moulds to your drawing.
Buying

Large and bulky items such as moulds, foam blocks and long-grain plywood are quoted individually.
